Speyside Single Malt Scotch whisky, 43% ABV
Description
The Macallan is one of the best whiskies in the world mainly because of masterpiece quality and an extraordinary taste. This single malt whisky reveals the unrivalled commitment to the mastery of wood and spirit for which The Macallan has been known since it was established in 1824. This is the Speyside whisky from the Highland region.
The Macallan 18 Sherry oak cask is a pearl in whole Macallan collection. Beautifully led by European Oak, sherry seasoned in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
A full bodied palate of mature oak, ginger and raisin flavours is complimented by a light mahogany natural colour.
Tasting notes
Nose: An opulent and recognizable "sherry bomb" aroma. Initial hits of soaked raisins, sultanas, and dates are layered with stem ginger, orange zest, and treacle tart. Subtle undertones of vanilla, cinnamon, and polished wood emerge as it breathes.
Palate: Soft, rich, and full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel. Dominant flavors include dark chocolate-coated ginger, dried apricots, and spicy figs. It balances a heavy Oloroso sherry sweetness with toasted mature oak, clove, and hints of espresso.
Finish: Long, warming, and elegant. It lingers with dried fruit sweetness, ginger spice, and a slightly drying oak tannin edge that some recent reviews describe as increasingly prominent.
