Description
The Nikka Tailored Blended Japanese Whisky 700mL is a premium, rich, and complex blend that balances malty flavors with fruity and bitter notes, designed to be a worthy successor to the discontinued Nikka 12 Year Old. It is primarily composed of malt whiskies from Nikka's Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, along with a portion of Coffey Still grain whisky.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Smooth and round, offering lively, fruity aromas of apple, apricot, white-fleshed fruits, and nectarine, with a strong presence of honey, chocolate, and candied orange peel notes.
Palate: The mouthfeel is sweet and buttery, with a firm malt base. It presents a duality of flavors, including pastry notes like vanilla and kouglof, balanced by a pleasant bitterness from dark chocolate and citrus zest like tangerine and orange marmalade.
Finish: The finish is gentle yet persistent, where the initial bitterness is counterbalanced by slightly toasted notes, revealing a lingering interplay between vanilla sweetness and fruity bitterness, with hints of roasted coffee beans and apple.
